Biographical Short Film Series

Reflections is a series of short films that highlights an historical person who made a significant difference during their lifetime.

The first episode is "The Life & Times of Mary McLeod Bethune." Born on a farm near Mayesville, South Carolina in 1875, Mary McLeod Bethune, the 15th child of former slaves, rose from humble beginnings to become a world-renowned educator, civil and human rights leader, humanitarian, champion for women and young people, and an advisor to five U.S. presidents.

Education was the first step in her remarkable journey starting by learning to read, and, as she later noted, "the whole world opened to me." The dream of opening her own school took Mary McLeod Bethune to Florida, first to Palatka and then to Daytona Beach, where she started a private school for black students that would become Bethune-Cookman University.

Wherever Dr. Bethune saw a need, she found a way to meet that need. For example, when a black student was turned away from the hospital in Daytona Beach, she opened a hospital to serve the black community.

Although she passed in 1955, her influence lives on and continues to this day at the school she founded, and it continues to sustain her legacy of faith, scholarship and service.

Born as the child of slaves and working in the field, her success is an inspiration to all. Her story shows the importance of education and with it, the world of possibilities available to anyone willing to put in the work.

Through it all Dr. Bethune relied on faith and prayer for guidance and inspiration, saying, "Without faith, nothing is possible. With it, nothing is impossible."

Documentary Series

Each episode of this series showcases someone that overcame what they thought was impossible.

Coleen H. was in a verbal and physically abusive marriage. After years of abuse and extreme low esteem, she found the strength to leave her husband, get training, and now lives a successful life with an outstanding career.

Nicole O. had a difficult childhood, got mixed up with gangs, prostitution, and spent much of her life in and out of jail. After being addicted to drugs, shot, raped, and not caring if she lived or died, she found the strength to leave that life behind and get clean. Today she has a wonderful career and the freedom she never dreamed possible.

This series is being produced to give hope to the people that feel they're in a situation or lifestyle that is impossible to overcome. Our goal is that these life changing stories will help others see that it is possible to overcome their impossible situation, and that these episodes would give them the courage and strength to do so.

Short Film or Documentary

People say slavery ended with the civil war but that is not true. There are more slaves today in our world than there were in any other time. And that includes the 400 years of the transatlantic slave trade. Human trafficking is the second most criminal activity in the world. It recently surpassed arms trafficking and is second only to drug trafficking. The traffickers realized that with drugs you can only sell it once. But with woman, men, boys, and girls, you can sell them over and over again. For traffickers they're just products for their personal gain. This has to stop!

This isn't just happening oversees in other countries, sex trafficking is rampant here in the United States as well with many young teens being loured in and falling victim to the traffickers schemes. For example, Loverboy is a term for a sex trafficker who poses as a boyfriend while grooming a girl for prostitution. Awareness has to be raised that this is going on right here in our neighborhoods because most people don’t realize it.

This film project not only brings more awareness to the problem, but will also educate people so they don't fall victim.

Short Film or Documentary

Every 95 minutes a teen takes their own life due to Adolescent Depression. 15 – 20% of high school children say they have seriously thought about suicide in the last year. The national average for public school student body size is approximately 526 students, so on average, that's 105 students in every school across the United States.

Teens are much better at hiding their depression than adults and so many times the people around them have no idea there's even a problem until it's too late. As one student said, “if you were to look at my life on the surface you’d see a kid who was the captain of his basketball team, consistently on the honor roll, and consistently at every party. You’d say I wasn’t suicidal, but you’d be wrong!”

This project will bring awareness to this problem and give solutions to teenagers contemplating suicide.

Feature Film

This full length feature film is written and ready to go. The film deals with the problem of online gambling, a fairly new addiction that’s growing in America at an alarming rate. Online gambling websites are among the fastest growing and most profitable businesses in existence today because people can now gamble online 24/7 using their computers, laptops, and even their smart phones.

This film will not only be entertaining but it’ll also cover a number of important issues, as well as where and how to get help.
